3 months later, eh?

So in the last three months I've traveled a total of about 6000 miles, gone to school and back a couple of times, crashed a car, gotten a new car, worked my butt off at both school and work and managed to stay alive throughout it all. I've just been pretty quiet. Things are going relatively well but there's always something bad in my life I suppose. Ah but I must sleep. I just arrived from good ol' Iowa and I am in desperate need of some sleep. But I will update. Oh yes. I will.

A mother's leap into the unknown

That mother is my mother. She decided after about 10 or 11 years of using dialup to take a leap into the present by getting DSL. *sigh* Took damn long enough. But it's nice not having to wait for her to do whatever it is she does online to use the internet on my own computer. At least we've had that though, our own computers. After all, it would truly suck if I had to use dialup on an old computer that I share with my mother. Been there, done that, back in '95. Oh yes, our computer back then was a Packard Bell with Windows 3.1 where we had to use programs on either CD-Roms or floppy disks. With a modem slower than molasses. We had an external modem eventually that was 14k. That was slow. Then we finally upgraded computers to a e-Machine that had a 56k modem and Windows 98. Better, not perfect, but better. We bought an external CD burner, it didn't work well. Then it was time for me to go to college. So in 2001 mom handed over the e-Machine which I had upgraded the hard drive on from about 10Gigs to 40. She bought a laptop, with Windows ME, it worked for her. That e-Machine didn't like college and decided it wanted to die. Harrumph, I said. So I got it fixed and added an internal CD-RW drive. After my sophomore year in college I worked full time at a law firm and made enough to buy a new computer. So I did, it was an HP with Windows XP, 120 Gig hard drive, plenty of memory and a CD-RW drive as well as a DVD drive, hooray. It still works well, I like it plenty well. I added a DVD-RW drive to that, it's my perfect PC I suppose. In October of this year I got a Mac mini. Only used it a handful of times and got it before I added the DVD-RW drive to my desktop, and this came with one. I didn't really use it cuz I really like PCs better even though I know there's more upsides to Macs nowadays. Then a month later I got a laptop, my very own. I almost died getting it but I got it. Served me right for going out the day after Thanksgiving to Walmart to try and get a good deal. It was one of 30 they had at the store and I got there at 345 to get it at 5am. It's nothing spectacular, 40 Gig hard drive, upgraded memory I got for Christmas from Daniel and a CD-RW drive but I love it. Especially since it has wireless internet, oh yes. She got a new laptop this year too. Hers is prettier, with a widescreen ultrabrite screen. I like it.

Enough about my technology etc. The mother of all headaches is killing me. I've tried all day to get rid of it. Perhaps it is time to sleep.

Storms on the horizon

It's going to storm. You can hear the thunder already. The wind has picked up, the temperature will drop some. You can feel it in the air. It's exciting. We need the rain and it will cool everything down some.

There are other storms too. Internal storms. The ones that arise within yourself. Ones between loved ones. They've all started to show up today.

My fresh start

Well now. I've done the Xanga and Livejournal thing but I want something new; a fresh start. So here it is. I'm me. I know who I am. I'm not sure who I want to be. I'm going to go down this road unsure. But I'll be whistlin' or humming a tune to keep myself occupied as I go...
